Odafe Oweh will enter March's free agency as one of the top targets for any team that needs edge rusher help. He had 7.5 sacks in 12 games as he finished the regular season with the Chargers. For the whole season, Oweh put up 7.5 sacks, 51 pressures, and had 29 stops. He earned the highest single-season Pro Football Focus pass rushing grade of his career with an 81.0.

On top of his regular season, Oweh had an absolutely incredible playoff game vs. New England. The stat line on Wild Card weekend likely earned him some extra money: 4 pressures, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 4 defensive stops. It was a clinic as he gave the eventual AFC champion Patriots quite a bit of trouble.

Chargers EDGE Odafe Oweh will be rewarded in free agency for his 2025 season.

New PFF projections show that Oweh is about to be rewarded for his 2025 breakout season. In PFF's new top 250 free agents list, the former Raven is ranked 7th league-wide. Their projection for Oweh in free agency is 4 years, $77 million ($40 million guaranteed).

These rankings were also made before news of the 2026 salary cap increase beating industry projections dropped. Oweh could realistically command an even higher price tag as teams will have plenty of money to spend.

EDGE is a premium position in the league. Even though Oweh has had an up and down career, it's incredibly hard to find a speedy pass rusher with his build and bag. The Chargers will have to get the numbers right, but re-signing Oweh remains a priority despite the lofty projections.

Two other Chargers were given projections in PFF's rankings. Veteran EDGE Khalil Mack was projected for a one year, $14 million deal (fully guaranteed). That structure is relatively similar to his deal that kept him with the Chargers last offseason. Mack signed a one year, fully guaranteed $18 million contract in 2025. Before the Chargers offer him in free agency, Mack will likely decide whether he wants to keep playing or not. He's contemplated retirement in multiple offseasons since 2023.

The other Chargers player given a projection was interestingly RB Najee Harris. Harris tore his Achilles last September and it cratered his potential market value. PFF projects Harris for just one year, $1.35 million ($350K guaranteed). That's obviously a steep fall from his guaranteed $5.25 million contract last offseason.

With the breakout of RB Kimani Vidal and Harris being a questionable fit for a Mike McDaniel offense, it's probably unlikely the former Steeler returns. But he exists as an insurance option on the market if something changes.

More free agents like LG Zion Johnson, WR Keenan Allen, DT Da'Shawn Hand, C Andre James, and LT Jamaree Salyer will receive their own projections from PFF. But the main story here is obviously Oweh. If the Chargers want to keep their breakout pass rusher, they'll have to cough up star pass rusher money.
