LA Chargers inactives list for Week 6 game vs. Denver Broncos
By Jason Reed
A Week 5 bye appeared to be a curse for the LA Chargers but it ended up being exactly what the team needed. The injuries were already mounting for the Bolts early in the 2024 season and getting to take a break might have huge positive repercussions for the rest of the 2024 season.
The Chargers avoided disaster with Joe Alt, who returns to action in Week 6 after spraining his MCL against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 3. Justin Herbert was also removed from the injury report as he is reportedly close to 100% for Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos.
It has not been all good news for the Chargers on the injury front, though. Asante Samuel Jr. and Gus Edwards were both put on the injured reserve earlier this week and superstars Joey Bosa and Rashawn Slater are still dealing with lingering issues.
With all this in mind, the Chargers' Week 6 inactives list becomes very compelling for Chargers fans.
Chargers Week 6 inactives:
Player | Position |
---|---|
Ja'Sir Taylor | CB |
Tony Jefferson | S |
Easton Stick | QB |
Jordan McFadden | OL |
Joey Bosa | OLB |
Brenden Rice | WR |
Ja'Sir Taylor was the only player who was ruled out of Week 6's game who will be on the inactives list. Both Edwards and Samuel were also listed out, but will not be considered inactive as they are now on the IR.
Both Bosa and Slater were given questionable designations on Friday with their statuses being a game-time decision. Slater is active with his pectoral injury while Bosa is officially inactive as he recovers from his injury.
Injuries have become a common trend for Bosa in recent years and the more time he misses in 2024 the worse it will look for the Chargers. The Chargers essentially chose to keep Bosa over Keenan Allen this past season (as Bosa agreed to a restructure). If Bosa doesn't play, that decision looks worse.
Taylor Heinicke has also officially won the QB2 job from Easton Stick, which was only a matter of time. Stick is inactive but was given the emergency third quarterback designation in case the Chargers need it.
Broncos Week 6 inactives:
Player | Position |
---|---|
Alex Palczewski | OT |
Zach Wilson | QB |
Blake Watson | RB |
JL Skinner | S |
Keidron Smith | S |
Greg Dulcich | TE |
Kris Abrams-Draine | CB |
The Broncos are without three offensive starters just based on Friday's injury report. Denver is forced to play a scary Chargers defensive front with a third-string right tackle and backup center protecting rookie Bo Nix.
Josh Reynolds and Luke Wattenberg were both added to the IR ahead of Sunday's contest. Palczewski was the other player who was ruled out on Friday, but his injury is not as serious and does not require an IR stint.
Outside of that, there are no surprises here for the Broncos.
