Khalil Mack isn't just one of the best edge rushers in the NFL, he is one of the best pass rushers of his generation and is a foundational piece to who the LA Chargers are in 2026. Mack may no longer be in his prime, but the impact he brings both on and off the field cannot be measured.
Mack has assumed a leadership role as the eldest statesman and there are many on the roster who benefit from it. Mack's impact isn't just contained to the defensive side of the ball, either, as his leadership extends to the offense as well.
Mack was seen coaching up offensive lineman Travis Burke during the first day of Chargers training camp on Wednesday. The Chargers selected Burke in the fourth round of the 2026 NFL Draft and while he won't start in his rookie year, there is real upside in his long-term future with the team.
ESPN's Kris Rhim snapped a photo of Mack coaching up Burke that highlights why the Chargers were excited to take the offensive lineman in the first place. Burke literally towers over Mack, making a very large human being look very... small. Yes, it's possible. Take a look for yourself.

Chargers fans can't help but take notice of Travis Burke towering over Khalil Mack
Burke hasn't even played a preseason snap with the Chargers and he's already a recognizable name because of this one video. If Burke can take Mack's teachings and match it with his head-turning size then he will develop into a legitimate weapon on the offensive line for the Bolts.
Burke measured in at six-foot-eight and three-quarters at the NFL Combine, making him an easy six-foot-nine in cleats. He weighed 325 pounds and has an optimal arm length of 34.25 inches. He was born to be an NFL offensive lineman.
For those who may have missed the NFL Draft or have since forgotten, the Chargers actually traded up in the fourth round to take Burke. The theorized plan for Burke is to be the long-term swing tackle, replacing Trey Pipkins, who can be released next offseason.
The Chargers are also trusting Burke to be an insurance policy for all the tackles ahead of him on the depth chart. Los Angeles dealt with an obscene number of offensive line injuries last year, so having someone with as much potential as Burke is huge for the Bolts. The Chargers are much better off turning to him than someone like Austin Deculus, that's without question.
Between Mack's coaching and the pass rushers Burke has to practice against in training camp, Chargers fans should feel good about the rookie rounding out into a legitimate NFL tackle. He clearly has the size and he's in the perfect ecosystem to get the most out of his game.
