The more time passes, the more a Keenan Allen reunion seems like a reality for the LA Chargers. The Chargers could still use another wideout and Allen has been very clear about his desire to only play in Chicago or Los Angeles.
Chicago quietly closed the door on Allen returning in 2025 while the Los Angeles Rams have no room for Allen after signing Davante Adams. All signs point to Allen returning home as it may just be a matter of when, not if.
Not everyone seems to be on the Allen-to-LA train, though. Pro Football Network recently broke down one free agent that every NFL team should still sign this offseason. Allen was not the choice for the Chargers, and he is being pitched to sign with the Tennessee Titans instead.
"It seems as if the Tennessee Titans are the team to go to for your receiving career to die. Randy Moss, Julio Jones, DeAndre Hopkins, Andre Johnson, Calvin Ridley, and many more," the article states. "Why not add Keenan Allen to that mix in hopes of him maybe bucking the trend? Cam Ward will need some weapons outside of Ridley and Chigoziem Okonkwo to throw to this season, and Allen could still have something left in the tank."
PFN thinks Keenan Allen should spurn the Chargers for the Titans
This is quite the prediction, and is a bit disingenous as well. The entire premise of this prediction seems to be based around the fact the Titans always bring in over-the-hill receivers only to see their careers fizzle out.
That is not a good reason to bring in any player, and is disrespectful to Allen as a player. Sure, he may no longer be in his prime, but Allen is in a totally different situation than those wideouts and can still produce in an NFL offense.
Likely first-overall pick Cam Ward does need passing weapons and Allen would prove to be a reliable target for the young quarterback. That being said, Allen already spent a season with a first-overall pick and it did not go as planned.
At this point in his career, Allen isn't going to sign up to be a part of another rebuild. He has said himself he only wants to play in Los Angeles or Chicago, so why should fans think any differently? If the Titans were the only landing spot for Allen he might just retire.
PFN's No. 1 fit for the Chargers is edge rusher Matthew Judon, who would be a nice addition to an edge-rusher room that could use one more body. The Chargers may use the NFL Draft to fill that body, but if not, Judon is a great backup plan for the team to consider.
But instead of signing Judon over Allen, the Chargers could just sign both veterans. That is far more likely than Allen joining the Titans.
