When looking at the all-time quarterback leaderboards for the Los Angeles Chargers, the same three names have been at the top in most of the major categories for quite some time now, those being Philip Rivers, Dan Fouts, and the late, great John Hadl.

But assuming all goes well and injuries don't come into play, those leaderboards will soon look a little different, as Justin Herbert is primed to climb into the top three in passing yards, touchdown passes, and victories during the upcoming 2026 season.

Justin Herbert is primed to pass John Hadl on the all-time Chargers' lists for passing yards, passing TDs, and wins

Now, given what Rivers and Fouts did during their respective 16-year and 15-year runs with the Bolts, the specifics of which you'll see below, it's going to take some time for Herbert to approach that pair of legends.

But he's well within reach of Hadl, who spent 11 years with the club in the early years of the franchise from 1962 to 1972, earning four AFL All-Star selections and two Second-Team All-AFL nods. Let's go ahead and break things down by category, shall we?

Passing Yards

Through six seasons, Herbert has thrown for 24,820 yards in his 95 regular-season outings, good for the second-most of any quarterback in league history through their first six years and already good for fourth on the Chargers' all-time list, which currently shakes out like this:

  1. Philip Rivers: 59,271
  2. Dan Fouts: 43,040
  3. John Hadl: 26,938
  4. Justin Herbert: 24,820

As you can see, Herbert needs just 2,119 yards to move past Hadl and into the No. 3 slot behind Rivers and Fouts, which shouldn't be a problem whatsoever if he stays healthy, as he's never even dipped below the 3,000-yard mark.

Touchdown Passes

In those same 95 regular-season appearances, Herbert has thrown 163 touchdown passes, again putting him on fourth on the Bolts' all-time list:

  1. Philip Rivers: 397
  2. Dan Fouts: 254
  3. John Hadl: 201
  4. Justin Herbert: 163

Now, this certainly won't be as easy, as Herbert needs 39 to surpass Hadl here, a number he's never hit, coming closest in his second season in 2021 when he went for 38.

And the only other time he's ever reached 30 was in his first year in 2020, when he set a new NFL rookie record with 31. Over the past four years, he's gone for 25, 20, 23, and 26, respectively, so he'll obviously have to pick it up to catch Hadl in this category.

From an overall perspective, Herbert obviously needs just 37 to reach 200 TD passes for his career, a mark only 52 players have ever reached, although the club should get at least two new members in 2026, as Baker Mayfield sits at 197, with Lamar Jackson also in reach at 187.

QB Wins

Of the 95 games Herbert has started during the regular season, he's won 52 of them, again putting him at No. 4 on the all-time franchise list:

  1. Philip Rivers: 123
  2. Dan Fouts: 86
  3. John Hadl: 59
  4. Justin Herbert: 52

As you can see, Herbert needs just seven wins to tie and eight to pass Hadl here, which should be very doable for a 2026 Chargers team that's expected to genuinely compete for an AFC West crown.

But we now just have to sit back and wait to see how things play out.
