For the first time in nearly four years, the Los Angeles Chargers finally earned themselves a win over the Kansas City Chiefs, snapping a seven-game skid against their longtime rivals with an impressive 27-21 victory on Friday night.
And while a plethora of players deserve credit for their respective performances against the three-time defending AFC champs, it was the team's biggest star who shone brightest in Brazil, as Justin Herbert put forth a phenomenal performance that already has Bolts fans thinking NFL MVP thoughts, completing 25 of 34 passes for 318 yards with three touchdowns and zero interceptions. The 27-year-old also added 32 yards on the ground, 19 of which came on a 3rd-and-14 late in the game that effectively sealed the deal.
Much to the delight of those same fans, Keenan Allen, back from his one-year sabbatical with the Chicago Bears, got in on the fun with a strong outing of his own, catching seven passes for 68 yards, including one of Herbert's three TD passes.

And for those who may not know, both made a little bit of history in the victory.
Justin Herbert and Keenan Allen make history in Chargers' win
Herbert, of course, has already made plenty of history throughout the course of his career. After falling just 39 yards shy of breaking Andrew Luck's all-time record for passing yards by a rookie quarterback in 2020, the Oregon alum has since set the marks for the most passing yards through two, three, four, and five seasons. And with his 318-yard performance against the Chiefs, he's well on his way to setting the record for six.
As far as Friday night is concerned, Herbert didn't set a record of his own but did become just the second quarterback ever with 300-plus passing yards, three touchdown passes, zero interceptions, and 30-plus rushing yards in a Week 1 game.
The other? None other than Ryan Fitzpatrick, who threw for 417 yards with four touchdowns and zero picks and rushed for 36 yards and a score for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a wild 48-40 win over the New Orleans Saints in Week 1 of the 2018 campaign.
As for Allen, with his 11-yard touchdown catch from Herbert late in the third quarter, which upped the Bolts' lead to 20-12, the 13th-year veteran became just the third pass-catcher to reach 60 receiving touchdowns in a Chargers uniform, joining Antonio Gates (116) and Lance Alworth (81). He also broke into the top 60 on the NFL's all-time list, as his 67 career receiving TDs are good for a tie for 58th alongside Cliff Branch, Chad Johnson, and Jimmy Smith.
