Jim Harbaugh sadly offers no J.K. Dobbins injury update after Chargers' loss
By Jason Reed
J.K. Dobbins signed a one-year prove-it deal with the LA Chargers in the 2024 offseason and has proven he is still one of the most dynamic running backs in the league. Dobbins' success in Los Angeles has been one of the best stories in the league this season after everything the running back has been through in his career.
Unfortunately, the injury bug caught back up to Dobbins against his former team on Monday night. After a strong first half against the Baltimore Ravens, Dobbins was seen heading to the locker room early in the first half.
The broadcast revealed it was a knee injury for Dobbins, who was seen wearing a sizeable brace on the sideline. Dobbins would not return to the game and in his postgame presser following the loss, head coach Jim Harbaugh provided no real update.

Those who have followed the Chargers closely this season are not surprised by this response. Harbaugh has been rather tight-lipped about injury statuses all season. Harbaugh was never going to reveal any real information following a backbreaking primetime loss to an AFC contender.
That doesn't mean fans weren't optimistic for some kind of update around Dobbins. If anything, fans were seeking copium as Dobbins has been the engine of the Chargers' offense. This offense simply is not the same without Dobbins. The Chargers proved that against the Ravens.
With a short week after playing on Monday Night Football it would not be surprising if the Chargers took the cautious approach and rested Dobbins in Week 13 against the Atlanta Falcons. After all, the Chargers have another primetime game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 14 and Dobbins will be needed.
However, that is assuming Dobbins' injury is minor and is one he can return from. With his injury history, it is fair to expect the worst. And at this point in the season, any two-month injury would effectively end Dobbins' comeback season.
Unfortunately, it appears Dobbins injured the same knee he injured on the Ravens back in 2021. All Chargers fans can do is cross their fingers and hope it is not a serious injury for the standout back.
