If the 2025 NFL Draft is anything like its predecessor then the LA Chargers will land several impact players who become foundational members of the roster. The Chargers pieced together a great draft class in 2024 and the hope is that Jim Harbaugh and Joe Hortiz can do it again in 2025.

Harbaugh and Hortiz will have more draft ammunition to put together a great class. Because of Hortiz's navigation of the free-agent market, the Chargers are in line to receive multiple compensatory picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The NFL made those compensatory picks official on Tuesday ahead of the new league year. In total, the Chargers added three draft picks to their arsenal.

The Chargers have three extra picks in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, giving the team 10 picks in total. Seven of the 10 picks are on day three of the draft, meaning the Chargers will have a busy Saturday in store.

In addition to having their own sixth-round pick, the Chargers also have the 181st pick from the New England Patriots. Los Angeles acquired the pick in 2023 when the team traded J.C. Jackson and a seventh-round pick to the Patriots.

That trade is the reason why the Chargers do not have their own seventh-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Chargers do have a compensatory seventh-round pick to go along with the two compensatory sixth-round picks. Los Angeles has the third-to-last pick in the 2025 NFL Draft with the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs holding the 256th and 257th picks, respectively.

The Chargers received the team's three extra compensatory picks due to the departure of three different free agents last offseason. Kenneth Murray and Gerald Everett earned the Chargers sixth-round picks while Michael Davis earned the Chargers the seventh-round pick.

Murray was tracking to earn the Chargers a fifth-round pick but was right on the cutoff between the fifth and sixth round. A late-season injury lowered his snap count, ultimately resulting in him netting the Chargers a sixth-rounder instead of a fifth.

Everett was released after one forgettable season in Chicago, essentially granting the Chargers an extra pick for nothing. Davis went from playing over 700 defensive snaps with the Chargers to 138 defensive snaps with the Commanders.

It is safe to say the Chargers got the better end of the deal with each of the departing free agents that netted the team an extra draft pick.
