The LA Chargers are on the road on Saturday with a chance to clinch a spot in the NFL Playoffs against the New England Patriots. On paper, this is a very winnable game for the Chargers but anything can happen in any given NFL game.
New England is more considered with its draft position in the 2025 NFL Draft while the Chargers vie for a playoff spot. It is more important than just locking up a playoff spot in Week 17, though, as the Chargers should be playing hard for the chance to become the fifth seed to match up with the beatable Houston Texans.
Health is going to be a factor in the Chargers' game against the Patriots, especially if the Bolts are without the top two running backs on the depth chart. If that happens, coupled with the other injuries the team is dealing with, then it could be an ugly game for the Chargers in Foxborough.
Let's dive into the players who have already been ruled out for the Chargers ahead of Saturday's game. This list will be made officially once the inactives are announced by the team prior to kickoff.
Chargers inactives vs Patriots:
Position | Player |
---|---|
RB | Gus Edwards |
OL | Trey Pipkins |
LB | Denzel Perryman |
QB | Easton Stick |
DL | Justin Eboigbe |
TE | Hayden Hurst |
OL | Jordan McFadden |
The Chargers ruled out a trio of starters in the final injury report of the week on Thursday. Running back Gus Edwards will be inactive after his best game of the season with a knee injury. It is unclear how serious the injury is long-term.
Trey Pipkins (hip) and Denzel Perryman (groin) were also ruled out of the game. Perryman just returned from injury last Thursday against the Broncos and finds himself back on the shelf against the Patriots in Week 17.
J.K. Dobbins was the most notable name on the Chargers injury report as he is listed as questionable. However, the former Ravens running back is active for the first time since he hurt his knee against his former team on primetime.
Hayden Hurst was also questionable heading into Saturday and he will not be suiting up for the Bolts. Hurst is sitting with an illness designation.
Easton Stick, Justin Eboigbe and Jordan McFadden are all regulars on the Chargers' inactives list. This trio has been inactive almost every week this season. Brenden Jaimes usually joins them but is active on Saturday likely due to Pipkins' injury.
