The LA Chargers are known for having some of the best uniforms not just in football, but in all of sports. Very few uniforms in sports are as beloved as the powder blues.
Los Angeles is busting out one of its lesser-worn uniforms on Monday Night Football in Week 12 against the Baltimore Ravens. For the second consecutive year, the Chargers will be wearing their navy "color rush" uniforms against the Ravens.
This year, though, fans are convinced there is going to be a subtle difference from last year's matchup against the Ravens. In the lead-up to Monday's Harbaugh Bowl, fans have convinced themselves that the team is bringing back the beloved navy helmets... all thanks to one social media post.
Chargers potentially hint at wearing new navy helmets vs. Ravens
The Chargers announced a collaboration with Crenshaw City Skate Club ahead of Monday's game against the Baltimore Ravens. Chargers fans can purchase exclusive merchandise online and at the team store on Monday.
Many noticed that in the promo material to announce the collaboration there was a navy helmet that so happened to be next to the team's usual white helmet (as seen in the post above). To many, this is an Easter egg from the Chargers, subtly revealing the navy helmets will be back in Week 12.
This may seem like small news to some but many fans hav called for the navy helmets to return for quite some time. While the navy helmet seen in the picture above is slightly different from the past, it would still satisfy many desperate Chargers fans.
While the team has not made anything official, it can surprise the fanbase by dolling out the navy helmets on Monday. NFL teams are allowed two different helmet designs (the number will climb to three in 2025) and the Chargers have only worn one design this season.
Plus, internet sleuths have noticed that the navy helmet in the picture above isn't just any old navy helmet. It actually appears to have numbers on the side of the helmet, which is what the gameday helmets look like.
Why would the Chargers go through the trouble of making a navy helmet, putting the number decals on the side, and purposefully including it in a team photograph only to deceive fans? I may not be Sherlock Holmes, but there are far too many breadcrumbs to call this a coincidence.
And who knows, a helmet change could actually bring newfound luck in these navy uniforms. Not only did the Chargers lose in these uniforms last year to the Ravens but the team is 0-5 in them since debuting them in 2020.
