Chargers' win over Falcons cements 2024 draft class as the best in the NFL

An ugly win is better than a pretty loss every single time. The LA Chargers reminded fans of that on Sunday as the team out-gritted the Atlanta Falcons en route to a 17-13 win.

Week 13's win was the most Jim Harbaugh win the Chargers have had all season. The offense was essentially nonexistent outside of Ladd McConkey. Los Angeles' defense needed to step up to give the team a chance and that is exactly what Jesse Minter's unit did.

With a bit of an assist from Kirk Cousins, the Chargers hauled in four interceptions on Sunday to hold the Falcons to 13 points. Two of those interceptions were hauled in by rookie fourth-round pick Tarheeb Still, who also scored the only touchdown of the game for the Bolts.

Tarheeb Still highlights an exceptional 2024 Chargers draft class

Many would consider Tarheeb Still to be the steal of the draft for the Chargers but that is hard to say considering the draft class has been so great thus far. Still is one of several rookies from the draft class who has fought well above his weight class in 2024.

Still's day-three classmate Cam Hart has also been an instrumental member of Minter's defense this season. The Chargers were able to fill in the gaps with Hart inactive against the Falcons but the same could not be said the last two weeks. The last six quarters without Hart have been a mess, highlighting just how important he is to this defense.

The Chargers also nailed the top of the NFL Draft. Joe Alt was a controversial pick at the time that has aged like wine while Malik Nabers buries his own team in New York. Trading up for Ladd McConkey in the second round may be the move of the entire draft as he has quickly emerged as the Chargers' top passing weapon.

McConkey caught nine passes for 117 yards against the Falcons. The Chargers had 187 yards of offense. McConkey accounted for 62.6% of the Chargers' total offense.

Even linebacker Junior Colson showed flashes of being really special prior to landing on the IR. Running back Kimani Vidal had the longest carry of the game on Sunday. Even those who have not made a difference, such as Justin Eboigbe and Brenden Rice, still have potential.

Still is the shining star of what looks to be an elite draft class after the Chargers' win in Week 13. The Chargers would not have won without Still and his rookie teammates. Quite frankly, the Chargers probably would be a losing team if they did not draft Still and Co. in the 2024 draft.
