Stop me if you've heard this before: no one's all that impressed with the Chargers' wide receiver room this year.
It's a tale as old as time. Regardless of how good anything is around them, the Chargers' wide receivers – as a whole – perpetually underwhelm. And since I'm obviously not going to entertain any sort of even-legitimate conversation about what that says about Justin Herbet, that leaves me with really only one option: groveling.

And who better to direct that towards than Pro Football Focus? In a way, I feel bad for PFF: they're clearly full of smart, motivated football analysts, and yet all they exist for now is just an outlet for complaints. *Most* of their grades, stats, and insight makes a ton of sense, and yet all any NFL fan wants to ever do is yell at them. So I'm sorry PFF, but I'm going to yell at you – because when you rank the Chargers' wide receiver room 27th, that's how it works. It's not like I even disagree, that' just how it works.
PFF thinks that the Chargers have one of the worst receiving corps in the entire NFL
27. Los Angeles Chargers
"Ladd McConkey was fantastic as a rookie, earning an 85.0 PFF receiving grade. But outside of him, there isn’t a lot to get excited about in the Chargers' receiver room. No other player who is still on the team earned a PFF receiving grade above 70.0 in 2024. Los Angeles brought back Mike Williams, who earned PFF receiving grades above 70.0 for six straight seasons with the Chargers before leaving last season and posting a career-low 59.7 mark."
So it sounds like the Chargers have two pretty-good-to-great wide receivers on their roster? That's how I'm reading it, at least. That seems fine? And none of this considers Tre Harris, who obviously doesn't come with the glamor of being a first round pick, but did go 55th overall – that's high enough to, in theory, expect an immediate impact in one way or another.
It's not wrong, it's just unecessary. And actually, it's not even unnecessary – I just personally didn't like it. Anytime you're ranked lower than the Carolina Panthers at anything, it stings a little. Tre Harris, you're our only hope.
