The Los Angeles Chargers need to address their tight end room this offseason after releasing Will Dissly and allowing Tucker Fisk to walk in free agency.

They had a breakout tight end in Oronde Gadsden II in 2025, who finished the season with 49 receptions, 664 yards, and three touchdowns on 69 targets. But Gadsden's deficits as a blocker have left them needing to provide support alongside him.

They accomplished this, in part, with their signing of Charlie Kolar to a three-year, $24.3 million deal. In many ways, Kolar is the ideal addition for Los Angeles at that position.

But they still need a third tight end. Their scheduled visit with Oscar Delp out of Georgia, who is primarily a pass-catching threat, may have revealed something vital about what they're looking for.

Oscar Delp represents a pass-catching profile that the Chargers may be seeking out this offseason

Heading into 2026, it seems like Gadsden will be the primary receiving threat at tight end, while Kolar will take on extensive blocking duties in Mike McDaniel's heavy outside-zone scheme. The combination of those two players provides the Chargers with enviable flexibility at the position.

But they still have room to take an upside swing on a prospect at the position, especially one who has the tools to grow as a blocker.

Per Arye Pulli at Sports Illustrated, Los Angeles is on the lengthy list of teams who have scheduled a visit with Delp.

Delp had a strong senior season at Georgia, posting 20 receptions for 261 yards and a touchdown through 14 games. Although he missed the NFL Scouting Combine with a foot injury, he also impressed athletically at his Pro Day, posting an official number of 4.48 on his 40-yard dash.

According to Lance Zierlein's scouting report for NFL.com, Delp is a smooth runner and pass-catcher in the open field. Although he needs to add strength to become more effective as a blocker, he has strong fundamentals and the right frame and arm length to acclimate to what will be demanded of him at the NFL level.

A player like Delp, therefore, represents a solid middle-ground between what Gadsden and Kolar provide. He's likely to be a Day 3 pick, and it seems reasonable that the Chargers should look for a player of his profile with one of their selections in that range.

Maybe that player is ultimately not Delp, but Los Angeles' interest in him likely has greater implications than just a singular prospect visit.
