The LA Chargers added nine new players to the roster in the 2025 NFL Draft to bolster the team's Super Bowl chances in 2025 and beyond. Those nine players aren't just fighting for specific roles on the Chargers, some are fighting for roster spots.

Those players fighting for a roster spot are going to have even more competition. Not only do they have to compete with the fringe roster players already on the team, they also have to compete with a flurry of new faces that are joining the team.

The Chargers wasted no time coming to terms with their UDFA class this year. Just hours after the 2025 NFL Draft ended the Chargers made 18 UDFA signings official. The following players make up the UDFA class:

  • QB DJ Uiagalelei
  • RB Raheim Sanders
  • WR Luke Grimm
  • TE Stevo Klotz
  • G Nash Jones
  • C Josh Kaltenberger
  • T Corey Stewart
  • T Savion Washington
  • DL Josh Fuga
  • DL TeRah Edwards
  • OLB Kylan Guidry
  • OLB Garmon Randolph
  • LB Marlowe Wax
  • CB Jordan Oladokun
  • CB Myles Purchase
  • CB Nikko Reed
  • CB Eric Rogers
  • S Jaylen Jones

Chargers sign 18 UDFAs following 2025 NFL Draft

The biggest name the Chargers signed as a UDFA is undoubtedly FSU quarterback DJ Uiagalelei. Uiagalelei was once considered a candidate for the No. 1 overall pick after his replaced Trevor Lawrence at Clemson. Poor play and injuries in college derailed his draft stock and now he would be lucky to land a practice squad spot.

There could be some potential for Uiagalelei to be a long-term backup for Justin Herbert but he would have to completely turn his game around for that to happen. He and Trey Lance find themselves in similar situations in 2025.

South Carolina's Raheim Sanders is arguably the most exciting of this group. Sanders' tape at South Carolina jumps off the screen and he is the early favorite to be the preseason MVP. Sanders will need that if he wants any chance of making the roster. Odds are, at the very least, he will be on the practice squad.

There is potential in every other UDFA the Chargers signed but they all have a much steeper uphill battle to make the roster. While the Chargers roster is still a bit thin at the top, this front office has done a great job of adding immense depth.

All of that depth makes it harder for a UDFA to make the roster. But if any of these UDFAs do make the roster, Chargers fans can rest easy knowing that they earned every single opportunity they get.

The Chargers may not be done with these signings, either. Los Angeles still has cap space it can utilize to sign proper NFL free agents.
