The LA Chargers dismantled the Cleveland Browns in Week 9 to move to 5-3 on the season. The story of the game, which has been the case all year, was the Chargers' defense as the Browns were unable to do much of anything a week after upsetting the Baltimore Ravens.

Los Angeles continued its streak of not allowing an opponent to score 20 or more points despite several injuries in the secondary. The Chargers' stout defensive front made up for these injuries, having one of the unit's best games of the entire season.

It wasn't all positive, though. Veteran edge rusher Khalil Mack was shaken up in the second half and was removed from play. Considering Mack's age and the miles on his body, every injury scare is magnified by Chargers fans.

However, it does not appear the Chargers have much to worry about with Mack specifically. The former All-Pro alleviated all concerns after the game, stating that he would be ready to play in Week 10.

Khalil Mack quells Chargers fans' injury concerns

It is hard to imagine a Chargers defense without Mack as he has been so consistent over the last two years for the Bolts. Mack has shown up every single week and has played at a high level, even when the Chargers did not deserve it.

Mack's impact on this Chargers defense is immeasurable and any situation without him moving forward is a bad one. As great as the depth is in the edge rusher room, especially with Joey Bosa back in action, Mack is the leader of this defense and is driving its success.

While Mack dispelled any concerns about him missing time next week this is still an important injury to monitor moving forward. The Chargers are going to be cautious with Mack and will not put him in a position to aggravate an injury.

Los Angeles has to keep the bigger picture in mind. If resting Mack for a short amount of time allows him to be healthy in the playoffs then that is what the Chargers should do.

However, knowing Mack, he will fight to be out there for his guys in Week 10 against the Tennessee Titans. Tennessee may not be the most daunting opponent, but Mack prides himself on the impact he can have each and every day for the Bolts.

If it comes to it, the Chargers must protect Mack from himself. But based on his postgame comments, that may not be needed.
