Chargers' first loss will come much later than anyone expects

The LA Chargers are 3-0 for the first time in over 20 years and there are no signs of the winning ways slowing down anytime soon.

Los Angeles is on the road to take on the New York Giants in Week 4 and while there is the new wrinkle of Jaxson Dart starting at quarterback, the Chargers are still heavy favorites in the game.

In fact, if you look at the upcoming slate of Chargers games, it becomes quite clear that the Chargers won't just be favorites in Week 4 — they will likely be favorites for the next two months. And while anything can happen in the NFL, this could lead to a winning streak that lasts much longer than anyone expected before the year.

The Chargers may not lose a game until December

Again, anything can happen on any given Sunday, but it's impossible to be a fan of the Chargers and not be excited about the schedule the team has over the next two months. The weekly lines are not out, but it's safe to say that barring injuries, the Bolts will be favored.

We already know the Chargers are favored against the Giants, and they almost certainly will be against the Washington Commanders next week. Washington has seemingly taken a step back and there is no guarantee that Jayden Daniels will even play against the Chargers.

Washington is a much tougher team to beat with Daniels than without him. If he doesn't play, chalk that up as a win for the good guys against Marcus Mariota.

The Miami Dolphins look to be one of the worst teams in the league and Mike McDaniel may not even have his job by the time the Chargers play them. The Indianapolis Colts throttled Miami and appear to be this year's breakout team, although that still could be a mirage three weeks in. Either way, the Chargers will be favored at home.

Then Los Angeles hosts the Vikings on short rest on Thursday night football. The Vikings were one of the best teams in the league last season but it's hard to be worried about them with either J.J. McCarthy or Carson Wentz starting under center.

The Tennessee Titans appear to be a bottom-feeder again and their coach, too, likely won't make it to the start of the 2026 season. Pittsburgh is always a hard team to beat, but the defense looks like a shell of its former self and this being a home game is an advantage for the Chargers.

Jacksonville is an impossible team to gauge but if the Chargers are winning all these games they will be favored on the road against Trevor Lawrence. This will be a hard game to win, but it's definitely winnable.

Then, after the bye week, the Chargers will play a Raiders team that, at that point, will be focused on the 2026 NFL Draft. That all sets the table for the Week 14 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles, where the Bolts still might be favored as the home team if they have two or fewer losses to this point.

Two losses might be overselling it, though. If all goes as planned (which rarely happens in the NFL, to be fair), the Chargers genuinely could be undefeated heading into that Eagles matchup on December 8. If so, that will be viewed as the game that proves whether or not the Chargers actually have what it takes to compete for the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

You can never count your chickens before they hatch and there undoubtedly will be bad games for the Chargers where they don't play their best. But if the chalk holds, the Chargers might just be the NFL's last undefeated team in 2025.
