Chargers' depth at linebacker tested with two key names popping up on first Raiders injury report

Denzel Perryman left the Chargers' win over the Chiefs in Brazil early with an ankle injury. His status for Monday's game is now uncertain as a result. In Los Angeles' first injury report of the week, he is listed as a DNP.

He isn't the only linebacker to land on the report. Del'Shawn Phillips (toe) also registered a DNP in Thursday's practice.

The depth at linebacker is looking a little thin for the Chargers heading into Monday Night Football vs. the Raiders.

2024 third-round pick Junior Colson was ruled out for the season before it even started due to a shoulder injury. Now, the Chargers face the prospect of heading into the Raiders game with just three healthy linebackers in Daiyan Henley, Troy Dye and Marlowe Wax. Not much is known about the status of Phillips' injury specifically. However, Perryman was spotted with a walking boot in the locker room following the Chargers' win. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that Perryman will be "week to week" and is expected to miss some time.

The Chargers re-signed special teams and preseason LB Kana'i Mauga to the practice squad this week. He's a possible elevation should Perryman and/or Phillips miss the game. LB Emany Johnson is another practice squad elevation possibility.

Elijah Molden is once again on the injury report this week, but now has a different designation. It appears Molden tweaked his hamstring against the Chiefs. He was listed with the knee injury he was recovering from in Week 1's injury report. Being a limited participant in the first practice of the week is a generally good sign though.

CB Tarheeb Still also appears on the injury report for the first time this season with a calf injury. Like Molden, Still was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.

Overall, it's not the worst injury report for the team following last week's win. But there will be some defensive questions to answer before Monday's game with the linebacker group and secondary.
