Chargers could get greedy and shock the NFL before the trade deadline

This would be quite the move.

Since the injury to Los Angeles Chargers running back Najee Harris, it has been fairly easy to get excited about the potential for rookie Omarion Hampton, and justifiably so.

Hampton is a star in the making. But, what the Chargers don't want to do is put too much on his shoulders all at once. Harris was a dependable RB2 to Hampton, but now, it looks as if the rookie is going to take on most of the load himself.

One option to help lighten it just a bit would be for the Chargers to go out and make a move before this year's November 5 trade deadline. Over at NFL Spin Zone, the Chargers were just named as a good fit for New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara.

Whew, baby. That would be quite the acquisition. Could you imagine Kamara and Hampton together in the same back field?

Alvin Kamara would only further cement the Chargers as an AFC favorite

These certainly don't feel like the same-old Chargers. It might be time for real, legitimate hope to reign among this fan base. And, if the team were to go out and get Kamara, look out.

We're talking about one of the best dual-threat running backs over the course of the past decade or so. Every year of his career, Kamara has gone over 1,200 yards from scrimmage. He's as dependable in the pass game as he is on the ground, and Justin Herbert would only continue profiting off a move like this.

Since 2017, Kamara has been with one team and one team only, but those Saints aren't looking like a contender. They won't be anytime soon, either. Kamara has been a hot trade name, too, as that realm starts to gain steam over the coming weeks.

Hampton benefits, here, too. Don't tell the fantasy football managers that, though.

The Chargers want to prolong Hampton's career, especially after watching Harris go down to such a tough injury. Between Kamara and Hampton, the Chargers would have a pair of exciting backs who could do quite a bit of damage together. And, we haven't even mentioned the passing game behind Justin Herbert.

So far, fans have watched Quentin Johnston emerge as one of the league's top positive surprises. He, Keenan Allen and Ladd McConkey form a nice trio in that room, but if you added Kamara as a receiving threat, the Chargers might actually prove to have the best offense in all of football as the season unfolds.
