The Los Angeles Chargers have turned into one of the more stable teams in the Jim Harbaugh era, winning 22 regular season games and making the playoffs each year of his tenure. As the team gears up for year three of the Harbaugh era, the expectations have risen, especially with the team having hired Mike McDaniel as the offensive coordinator.

The offensive line, though, has come under fire for what feels like forever now. Quarterback Justin Herbert, for lack of a better term, took a major beating last year, and in the offseason, it seemed like General Manager Joe Hortiz did leave some meat on the bone in trying to improve the unit.

Hortiz did spring on signing center Tyler Biadasz after his shocking cut from the Washington Commanders, but on Tuesday, Biadasz went down in practice with an injury

According to Kris Rhim, Biadasz had a San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle fall onto his left knee, which seemingly caused this injury:

Daniel Popper is reporting that Biadasz could not put any weight on the leg, either:

This sucks, frankly. Biadasz was a big-ticket free agent for the team and, by all accounts, was having a strong first offseason with the team. The Pro Bowl center has started each game he's played in since the 2021 NFL Season and is simply a good player at a major position of need. With left tackle Rashawn Slater still not back practicing, the Chargers offensive line is now down two of their three best starters.

And while we cannot yet say for certain what the injury is, not being able to put any weight on the leg is bad, bad news. If this does end up being an injury where Biadasz misses time into the regular season, it's very likely that rookie Jake Slaughter would step into the mix as the starter.

It's not an ideal situation no matter how you slice it, but drafting Slaughter could already be paying off for the Chargers. Simply put, this team is not ever going to make any sort of progress in the playoffs until the offensive line is shored up and among the better units in the NFL, but injuries are also unavoidable and really just make you feel bad for the players, who have worked their tails off to get to this point.
