The Los Angeles Chargers have somehow stayed afloat during the 2025 NFL season despite injuries trying to derail them at every turn. The offensive line, in particular, has been decimated by ailments, most notably to Rashawn Slater and Joe Alt, who hurt his ankle again in Week 9.

Los Angeles gave up three sacks and 15 pressures on quarterback Justin Herbert against the Jeffery Simmons-less Tennessee Titans on Sunday, and they'll have to keep him cleaner than that if they want to make a serious run in the AFC.

With so many injuries up front, depth and versatility are the obvious names of the game for Jim Harbaugh's group. Luckily, the Washington Commanders just signaled that they could be selling two offensive linemen that should be of tremendous interest to Joe Hortiz and the Chargers.

Chargers must trade for one of Commanders' advertised veteran OL

On Monday, with just a bit over 24 hours until the NFL trade deadline, Jordan Schultz reported that the Commanders are open to trading several players, including offensive linemen Andrew Wylie and Nick Allegretti.

Although Wylie has exclusively played right guard for the Commanders this season, he has played thousands of snaps at right tackle over the last few years. He also played both guard spots early in his career, so he is quite the versatile piece.

Allegretti is also incredibly versatile, as he can play each of the three spots on the interior offensive line. He is most comfortable at guard, but he has a decent amount of experience playing center, and could fill in if he was called upon.

With Mekhi Becton sidelined yet again and the tackle position in tatters, there is an argument for the Chargers to try their hand at both of these players. With pieces like Jamaree Salyer and Trey Pipkins III constantly reshuffling, it would be nice to have some other durable, flexible pieces.

Given that Wylie and Allegretti are 31 and 29 years old, respectively, it is unlikely that it would cost more than a late Day 3 pick to acquire either one of them. LA has already sent away its 5th and 7th rounders next year, but they could send their 6th-rounder to Washington in a last-ditch effort.

As up and down as the 2025 campaign has been for the Chargers, they are still right in the thick of things in the AFC West and the conference at large. By trading for either one of these players, they could easily improve their offensive line, and at the worst, provide some much-needed insurance.
