Chargers and Saints inactives lists for Week 8 game
By Jason Reed
Despite hiring a new training staff, coaching staff and revamping the front office, the LA Chargers have dealt with the same injury woes in 2024 as years prior. While Justin Herbert's ankle appears to be a thing of the past, his passing weapons on offense are now banged up.
This was on full display in Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals. Herbert had his best game of the season but the Chargers were unable to pull away with the victory as the team could not find the endzone. With a normal receiving corps, that may have been different.
This is once again a storyline for the Bolts as they host the New Orleans Saints in Week 8. While the Chargers are over a touchdown favorite, the injuries on both sidelines could have a huge impact on the outcome of this game.
Chargers inactives list vs Saints:
Derius Davis and Quentin Johnston were both given doubtful injury designations on the final Chargers injury report of the week. The Chargers essentially confirmed that both receivers would be inactive already after elevating Jalen Reagor and Jaylen Johnson from the practice squad.
Ladd McConkey will suit up for the Chargers after being listed as questionable for the second week in a row. McConkey has been dealing with a lingering injury that seemingly impacted his play against the Cardinals last week.
Justin Eboigbe and Jordan McFadden are both healthy scratches. Easton Stick will serve as the emergency third quarterback, if needed.
Saints inactives list vs Chargers:
- QB Derek Carr (Oblique)
- WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling
- WR Cedrick Wilson Jr. (Hip)
- G Nick Saldiveri (Shoulder)
- LB Jaylan Ford
- TE Dallin Holker
- DT Khristian Boyd
Derek Carr was listed as doubtful on the final Saints injury report of the week. Carr missing this game against the Chargers was on the table as early as Monday, so this does not come as a surprise to anyone.
Nick Saldiveri and Cedrick Wilson were also ruled out on the final Saints injury report of the week. Several Saints stars, including running back Alvin Kamara, logged limited practices throughout the week but were not included in the final injury report and will play against the Bolts.
