Joshua Palmer signed a three-year, $29.9 million contract with the Buffalo Bills after a four-year stint with the LA Chargers. Palmer is going from one elite quarterback to another in Josh Allen and the Bills coaching staff is already hyping up what this connection will look like.
Palmer has long been a fantasy football sleeper who never quite awoke from hibernation. The 2024 season was lined up perfectly for Palmer to emerge as a legitimate WR1 with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams no longer in Los Angeles. Instead, it was rookie Ladd McConkey who rose to the occasion.
The disappointing 2024 season is not slowing down the hype for Palmer on his new team. Bills content creator Alex Brasky has been raving about Palmer and how he can elevate the entire Buffalo receiving corps in 2025.
"Joshua Palmer has made quite the impression during his time with the [Bills]. Cerebral player, someone who seems to take pride in every rep he takes. Leader," Brasky wrote. "Think this is a guy who can help carry this entire pass-catching group to greater heights."
Bills reporter is hyping Joshua Palmer up in the same way Chargers fans did
This sounds exactly like how Chargers fans were talking about Palmer a year ago. Heck, the hype around Palmer has extended far past last year as fans and analysts alike have been circling him as a breakout target since his sophomore season.
Palmer had a fine stint in Los Angeles but he never quite lived up to the expectations. He finished with 39 catches for 584 yards with one touchdown in 2024. For comparison, Palmer finished with 769 yards on 72 catches with four touchdowns in his sophomore season. He did not take that step forward that fans were expecting. His production took a step back.
Not all of that was Palmer's fault, though. Injuries kept him off the field in 2023 (not to mention Justin Herbert's injury) while the offensive system in 2024 didn't suit his strengths.
The numbers may not have been there but Palmer's game has always jumped off the tape and that is what the Bills are seeing now. He is someone who can absolutely light it up in practice, but for whatever reason, that has never fully translated to the regular season.
That's not to say Palmer isn't capable. Every Chargers fan would agree he is more than capable of having a breakout season with the Bills. Bills fans just have to be cautious about getting their expectations too high as they could end up just as disappointed as Chargers fans.
The Palmer hype is real heading into the 2025 season and Chargers fans know all about it. For the sake of Palmer, as long as it doesn't hurt the Chargers, we hope he succeeds.
