Kansas City Chiefs: Travis Kelce

Stolen player last year: Patrick Mahomes

The LA Chargers are one of the only teams in the league that can legitimately say that they do not need to steal Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. Is Patrick Mahomes a better quarterback than Justin Herbert? Obviously, he is the best quarterback in the league and perhaps the most talented quarterback we have ever seen.

However, Herbert is coming off of a record-breaking rookie season and appears to be on pace to enter the upper-echelon that Mahomes and very few are in. And while we are not taking into account the financials of this situation, it is still helpful to have Herbert on a rookie deal.

When it comes to stealing a player to theoretically help the Chargers for one season in 2021 the only answer is Travis Kelce. Kelce is the best tight end in the NFL and has been a hugely reliable target for Mahomes in his three years as a starter.

The Chargers’ tight end situation is not as good as it was last year and even then Kelce was far better than what the team had. Adding Kelce to the passing game alongside the likes of Keenan Allen, Austin Ekeler and Mike Williams would truly be unfair.

While Tyreek Hill is elite, the Chargers would probably have better overall weapons if Kelce was in powder blue not red and yellow as Herbert would have three elite targets to throw to and one well-above-average target in Williams.

Travis Kelce is a high bar to reach for but the hope is that one day Tre’ McKitty can get Charger fans as excited about him as Chief fans are for Kelce.
