LA Chargers: 4 available players on offense that would fill out the roster

TE Zach Ertz
I told you guys some months ago that in order for the Bolts to keep pace with the Chiefs and the way they run their high-powered offense, they’d need to continue to load up on pass catchers to surround Justin Herbert with, and Zach Ertz was a big name going around as a potential trade chip to come to LA.
Much hasn’t progressed on many fronts in the Ertz sweepstakes, though I can’t imagine he’s anything but available to be traded by the Eagles even after his market has seemingly cooled down since the Draft.
Ertz is still the guy the Bolts need to get at this point in my opinion. After failing to bring in Julio Jones, this team’s order of business reverts back to what I believe to be what will make them stand out in 2021.
That being a two tight-end system that will both enhance the run game of Austin Ekeler (though Ertz has his issues at blocking) and also give Herbert something neither the Chiefs nor the Raiders have in their very division in two big pass catchers in the middle of the field.
Larry Fitzgerald fills that same void of run blocking and also works in the slot, so maybe he’s the smarter choice being that the Bolts wouldn’t have to give up as much to acquire him. But in the spirit of setting yourself apart from the favorites of the division to offer a unique look, Ertz, to me, is the marquee available offensive player that fits into the Chargers system the best now that Julio is off the table.
Ertz is a Stanford guy. LA fits his personality way better than that of Buffalo, one of the alleged leading candidates to land him. And in the powder blue, he does not have to be “the guy” like he has been in Philly the last couple of years where his numbers have dipped.
Being one of a handful of stars in a city that suits his personality to a tee, Ertz fits nowhere better than in LA with the Chargers. And the fact that Brandon Staley is coming over from the Rams where they also ran a two tight-end system makes the fit all the better.

Any one of these five guys I’ve mentioned would help the Bolts, but I believe Ertz is the best one. Let’s see if the Chargers like the team they have now or if they want to add on to make a serious push to win the division.
