With Julio Jones signing in Tennessee, the LA Chargers remain a piece away from being a legitimate threat to the Kansas City Chiefs in the division come 2021. And the Jones signing eliminates a potential avenue for the Bolts to take to fill that void.
However, there is still hope for this team to land an offensive player who can make a huge impact this upcoming season. Here are the four players (and probably obvious ones) that I believe the Bolts should still try to go after as we head into preseason camps.
Available players that could help fill out the LA Chargers roster:
1. RB Le’Veon Bell
I start with perhaps the most controversial of the four I’m going to address here, but even though Le’Veon Bell has garnered a negative reputation for himself in recent years, his presence on the football field still demands respect from defenses.
Le’Veon’s time has come and gone and that has been made abundantly clear by his time in Kansas City. However, making a play for the former best running back in football to square off against the very Chiefs team he has an ax to grind against twice a year might not be the worst fit in the world.
He’s a headache, but at this point in his career, he serves a team like the Bolts who need more bodies to surround the young star quarterback Justin Herbert with his ability to act as a receiver about as well as any other running back in the game today. He can spell Austin Ekeler in the run game, give Justin Herbert a second running back toy to utilize, and also provide the run game with an extra quality blocker.
