There appears to be a good chance that the Atlanta Falcons trade Julio Jones this offseason. Speculation has been building for week’s and The Athletic’s Jeff Schultz (subscription required) recently broke down the reasons why the Falcons are looking to trade Jones and named the LA Chargers are one of the teams that is a potential fit.

Any time the Chargers are linked to a big-name player it is a massive deal. Massive trades like this are few and far between in the NFL and they are especially few and far between with the Chargers.

Jones has been the best wide receiver in the NFL for the past decade and his resume speaks for itself. If a trade were to occur, the Chargers would be taking on the final three years of Jones’ contract.

It is always easy to jump the gun and get excited about trading for a big-name player like Jones and oftentimes, it does not make sense in the grand scheme of things. This is not one of those times.

The LA Chargers trading for Julio Jones is about as big of a no-brainer as possible.

Does this mean the Chargers are destined to trade for Jones? No, Tom Telesco still doesn’t make many big trades and I would not expect the Chargers to make this move, that is just setting yourself up for disappointment.

Perhaps this article could serve as motivation if someone in the building stumbles across it because there are three compelling reasons why this trade is as big of a no-brainer as could be.
