A recent power ranking has the LA Chargers finishing higher on the list than all but two teams in the NFL.

With everything the LA Chargers have done to their roster this offseason, most would agree that they should be much improved compared to how they performed in 2020.

Well, there is at least one person who believes the Chargers have already surpassed the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC West following their additions in free agency and the NFL Draft this year.

USA Today’s Doug Farrar recently shared his power rankings for the league following the conclusion of the 2021 draft and he is very high on what the Chargers can do next season.

LA Chargers finish third in recent NFL power rankings

In his post-draft power rankings, Farrar has the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Buffalo Bills as the top-two teams in the NFL right now. His selection for the third-best team in the league after the 2021 draft is not one many expected to see, but Bolts fans are certainly going to be happy with who he chose.

At No. 3 in Farrar’s most recent NFL power rankings are the Chargers. Yes, you read that correctly. He views Los Angeles as the third-best team in the league. That means he currently thinks the Chargers deserve to be ranked higher than the Chiefs, the Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Las Vegas Raiders, and Denver Broncos.

It’s been a while since the Bolts have received this sort of hype heading into a season. But with Justin Herbert returning under center after a spectacular rookie year, the Chargers adding better talent to their offensive line, and their defense still being full of playmakers, it’s not very difficult to understand why Farrar thinks Los Angeles will be one of the top teams in the NFL in 2021.

This power ranking could potentially be the beginning of the Bolts turning into a trendy favorite for the national media this summer. Expectations will certainly be high for the Chargers next season. But will they be able to stay healthy and live up to the hype?
