3. Joshua Kelley

The Joshua Kelley selection last year was the worst pick of the draft for the LA Chargers. After not having a pick on day two, the Chargers selected a running back way earlier than they should have and way sooner than he likely would have gone otherwise.

Anthony Lynn really seemed to like Joshua Kelley and the Chargers reached for the UCLA running back hoping he could be a difference-maker. Kelley certainly got his opportunities last season with Austin Ekeler hurt but was terrible. He was good in Week 1 and that was it. He was the worst running back in the league last season.

His job is not secured even though he was just picked last season. This is a new coaching staff and if we read the tea leaves then we can conclude that Kelley was a Lynn pick. Lynn is gone and even he making Kelley a healthy scratch last season.

The LA Chargers selected Larry Rountree from Missouri in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. This was not one of the several running backs that fans wanted but it still does add depth to the room as well as special teams.

Justin Jackson always has injury concerns but there is a legitimate chance that Kelley gets pumped down the depth chart yet again and becomes the RB4. From there, it would only be a matter of time.
