LA Chargers: Final prediction of the first 12 picks in the 2021 NFL Draft
By Jason Reed
Penei Sewell falls into trade-up territory for the LA Chargers
5. Cincinnati Bengals: Ja’Marr Chase, WR, LSU
All signs seem to be pointing to Ja’Marr Chase on the Cincinnati Bengals and whether or not it is the smarter move does not matter. Joe Burrow could reunite with his college receiver and the Bengals would be hoping to create the next great receiver-quarterback tandem.
While I would go with Penei Sewell, I could see why the Bengals would not do so. The team added to the offensive line this offseason and has the horses to have at least a decent tackle pairing. Maybe they surprise everyone with Rashawn Slater here to play on the inside, but I doubt that as well.
Chase to the Bengals and they can address the interior offensive line later in the draft.
TRADE: The Miami Dolphins trade the sixth pick to the Denver Broncos for the ninth pick, 71st pick and a 2022 third-round pick
6. Denver Broncos: Justin Fields, QB, Ohio State
The Denver Broncos know that the Carolina Panthers and Detroit Lions could both take a quarterback or could even trade down in the draft to allow another team to take a quarterback. Thus, they move up and the Miami Dolphins get even more draft capital in the process.
John Elway gets his physical, big-armed quarterback to compete with Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert in the AFC West. The Dolphins move back three spots and get two more third-round picks in the process.
