Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports – LA Chargers
There has been some debate about the LA Chargers taking a wide receiver with the 13th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. While most fans seem to be on board the offensive tackle or cornerback train for the 13th pick, there are those that prefer the team to go with the best player available and take one of the Alabama receivers, assuming they are available.
The argument is that either Alabama receiver is a top-10 draft prospect while the next most likely pick, Christian Darrisaw (assuming Jaycee Horn, Patrick Surtain and Rashawn Slater are off the board) is not on that level.
Personally, I disagree with that sentiment. Darrisaw is a strong, promising left tackle prospect and while he might be in the 16-18 range in terms of big board ranking, with the team’s needs, that is more than justifiable.
But just for fun, I wanted to put together a full LA Chargers mock draft in which the team picks a receiver at 13 and showcase the sacrifices that have to be made later in the draft. To do so, I am using The Draft Network’s Mock Draft Machine.
Let’s get into which receiver the LA Chargers picked with the 13th overall pick and I will explain why, despite the potential, it is a bad value pick for the team.
