The LA Chargers have so many different routes that they could take in the 2021 NFL Draft. There are the ideal picks that fans want the team to make but all that will change when the draft actually happens and other teams select prospects that the Chargers are high on.

Without the intent of being hyperbolic, you could make the case that this is the most important draft of Tom Telesco’s career. Let’s be honest, the Miami Dolphins picking Tua Tagovailoa instead of Justin Herbert saved Telesco’s job.

Telesco is now on his third head coach in Brandon Staley, who really does seem to be the full package. It is time to build a winner around Justin Herbert, making this draft extremely important for his job.

One of the several holes that Telesco has to fill is the cornerback position. Casey Hayward was cut by the team after an awful 2020 season and the depth in the cornerback room is rather thin.

It is so thin that the LA Chargers will draft two cornerbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft.

There is not a doubt in my mind that the LA Chargers are not only going to draft two cornerbacks in the 2021 NFL Draft but will draft a safety on top of that as well. This is a re-invention of the secondary for Brandon Staley. There is a reason why they only re-signed Michael Davis.

Both the way that the roster is built and recent history is on our side with this one. Let’s break down why it is inevitable that the Chargers will draft two corners in the 2021 NFL Draft.
