One of the bigger draft needs that is not getting talked about as much for the LA Chargers is the safety position. Cornerback is the biggest need in the secondary for the Bolts but safety is not too far behind it.

The Chargers lost Rayshawn Jenkins to the Jacksonville Jaguars in free agency and it is hard to feel overly confident in the safeties that are on the roster. While Derwin James is elite, he has not played a full season since 2018 and there is no guarantees that he can stay healthy, let alone be the same guy after suffering multiple injuries.

Nasir Adderley dealt with injuries his rookie season and had to deal with the strangest sophomore season imaginable. That could be part of the reason why he has been so poor thus far but it still leaves a sour taste.

Alohi Gilman is the third and final safety on the depth chart. Gilman was taken last season in the sixth round and there is not a ton to get excited about. He is fine as a depth option and special teams player.

The LA Chargers need to add another safety in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The earliest that the Chargers can justify taking a safety in the 2021 NFL Draft is the fourth round and they could take one as late as the seventh (the earlier the better).

Thus, I singled out five safeties that I could see the Bolts drafting on day three of the 2021 NFL Draft.
