2. Christian Darrisaw

Christian Darrisaw, or AVT, is who the LA Chargers should take with the 13th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. However, I do believe that if Slater is not on the board at 13 then the team is going to go a different direction.

I hate it and I want the pick to be a bonafide left tackle that can protect Justin Herbert’s blindside for years to come. Knowing how Telesco has drafted in the past, though, I cannot make an offensive tackle the most likely selection, especially after the free agency activity.

I rank Darrisaw higher than AVT because Darrisaw is the definition of a left tackle. In fact, with Slater and AVT both potentially moving to the inside, Darrisaw could become the second prospect taken that actually plays left tackle at the next level.

There is a lot to get excited about with Darrisaw and not a lot of red flags. He is someone who has shown improvements to his game year in and year out, which is a tremendously positive sign for his leap to the next level.

He has starting left tackle size, he has starting left tackle athleticism and he has a really high floor. At worst the Chargers should get a serviceable left tackle. At best, the team may get a serviceable left tackle in year one that eventually turns into a Pro Bowler.

If I had my choice between Darrisaw and AVT, with both guys being great prospects, I would take Darrisaw as I do not trust the Chargers to properly handle AVT’s skillset.
