3. Mackensie Alexander

There are not many solid outside cornerback options on the market anymore and that may not even be what the team is looking for. There is a good chance that the Chargers are expecting to find the team’s second outside corner in the 2021 NFL Draft, so they may look to just get depth in the slot with Chris Harris’ age being a factor.

If so, another option for the team to explore is Mackensie Alexander. Alexander is a slot corner through and through but like Poole, he would be a solid addition to the Chargers’ defense that would boost the secondary.

Alexander has not been elite by any sense of the word but he has the athleticism and natural ability to really thrive in the right defense. As we have seen before, Brandon Staley gets the most out of players in the secondary and I would not be shocked to see Alexander have a career year with the Bolts.

Last season Alexander posted a 67.2 coverage grade with an 87.0 passer rating allowed. That is not among the very best in the slot but Alexander is at least consistent. His passer rating allowed the last four seasons are as followed: 87.0, 90.2, 85.6, 77.0.
