LA Chargers draft replacement for Rayshawn Jenkins: Jevon Holland

Jevon Holland is another versatile defender who played a few different roles during his time at Oregon. He showed goof football I.Q. as he routinely showed on film his ability to read and react with motions and getting the defense lined up correctly.

Holland is a good athlete with good hip mobility who also showed good athleticism. He’s good enough against the run where he is not considered a liability.

However, he is not the most physical player when meeting ball carriers. He’s able to process the run and put himself in a position to make a play.

Holland also showed good ball skills as a defender in coverage, especially when lined up as a slot defender. With his instincts and range, Staley would love a player like Holland who he can trust to be aligned in different roles on the backend of the defense.

Finding skilled players to fit this new scheme might be a little challenging for the Chargers but it can be done. When versatility is your best trait as a football player, it worries people.

Some teams prefer players who can excel at one thing so they can ask them to do just that. While Holland may not have the trump card of being great at a particular skill set, he should still be valued in some areas for this defense.
