LA Chargers: 4 recently-cut free agents that are worth pursuing

2. Tre Boston
The LA Chargers should reunite with the veteran safety
The safety position is one of the more overlooked potential position needs for the LA Chargers. If the team is unable to re-sign Rayshawn Jenkins, which is possible if he prices himself out, then the Bolts really need to add depth at the position.
The team would be relying on the oft-injured Derwin James, the disappointing Nasir Adderley and the unproven (and not that special) Alohi Gilman. They need depth and they could get just that with Tre Boston.
Boston was exceptional in his one season with the Chargers. Granted, the Bolts are going to have a different defensive identity, but the value he could provide at the safety position would be felt instantly.
Boston is a veteran who could split snaps with Adderley, allowing him to further work on his progression in the league without relying on him too much to potentially lose games. Boston can even play some strong safety when James is lined up in the box or at slot corner, which he should be doing a lot of in 2021.
Boston was released by the Carolina Panthers after just one year of a three-year deal he signed with the team. He was not great last season, but he is still on the right side of 30 and would be worth the flier.
