The LA Chargers already have the foundation for a Super Bowl-contending team and they are going to have to build on that this offseason to begin maximizing the potential that the team has.

Justin Herbert is on his rookie contract and very well could be a top-five quarterback in the league next season. Keenen Allen, Joey Bosa, Austin Ekeler and Derwin James all provide more star power and the hope is that Brandon Staley can instill a winning culture in LA.

The Chargers are a bit top-heavy in stars, though, and the front office is going to have to fill as many roster holes as possible this season. That is why we could make a legitimate case for a free agent at every single position for the Bolts.

One new name has emerged as a potential target for the LA Chargers: former Pro Bowl and All-Pro Bowl cornerback, Patrick Peterson.

Should the LA Chargers pursue Patrick Peterson?

Patrick Peterson has been manning the Arizona Cardinals’ secondary for a decade and that stint appears to be over. Per FanSided’s Matt Verderame, Peterson and the Arizona Cardinals are expected to part ways, barring a significant change in stances. That would make Peterson an unrestricted free agent.

This is an interesting question for the Bolts. Peterson is one of the biggest names in the sport and has a Hall of Fame-worthy career behind him, s most fans may instantly jump on the train of wanting Peterson in LA.

However, there are also reasons against bringing Peterson in that every fan should understand as well.

For that reason, I wanted to break down the case for and the case against signing Peterson before coming to a final conclusion.
