Free-agent offensive linemen the LA Chargers should avoid: Lane Taylor

This is another big-name offensive lineman that the LA Chargers should avoid at all costs. With all respect to Lane Taylor, if his agent calls Tom Telesco and the front office they have to send that call straight to voicemail and block the number.

I do not want the LA Chargers even considering talking themselves into signing Lane Taylor. It would be a disaster from the start.

Taylor is not as old as Mack and still has some miles to give. He will turn 32 in November. He was not a Pro Bowler like Mack, but he was a really solid left guard for the Packers and could fill in nicely on the left side of the line to protect Herbert.. if he was healthy that is.

Taylor has the biggest injury red flags you could possibly have. Taylor has played a grand total of three games over the last two seasons. He suffered a biceps injury in 2019 and a knee injury in 2020.

I do not care how cheap you could get Taylor and the potential of him being a breakout option at left guard. Even if the Chargers bring in other just-in-case options in the draft or re-sign current players it would be a bad move.

The Chargers would be dousing money in gasoline, lighting it on fire, throwing it out the window into a tree chipper and then blasting the remains into outer space if they were to sign Taylor. There is no reason for a team with extensive injury history to sign a guy who has played three games in two years.
