Best fits for LA Chargers quarterback Tyrod Taylor: 2. Baltimore Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens’ backup quarterback position is really topical right now. Ironically, I put this list together before the NFL Divisional Round matchup against the Buffalo Bills, which seemingly may hurt the case for Taylor in Baltimore.

Lamar Jackson was ruled out of the game due to the NFL’s concussion protocol and rookie quarterback Tyler Huntley took over. The former Utah quarterback showed some really promising signs and even put together a good drive, but he did miss a wide-open Marquise Brown in what would have been a truly game-altering touchdown pass.

The usual backup, Robert Griffin, is a free agent and is too injury prone to be a reliable backup. And while Huntley showed promising signs, it is not a bad thing to add more depth to the QB room in a veteran like Taylor.

Taylor came into the league with the Ravens and would be the ideal, reliable backup quarterback behind Lamar Jackson. He is not quite the running threat as Jackson but he absolutely can operate in that offense. Most importantly, as previously mentioned, Taylor is not someone who will lose games, which is ideal for Baltimore.

Baltimore could absolutely still win games with their defense and an offensive style that maximizes the running game. Taylor is a perfect backup candidate to replace RG3, but there is one other team that could also use Taylor while also having connections to the quarterback.
