The LA Chargers are still looking to replace Anthony Lynn, although it appears that his replacement is essentially a guarantee.
Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll has been a fan-favorite candidate because of his work with the Bills’ offense and the progression of Josh Allen. Those in favor of Daboll should be excited, as it is hard to see the Bolts hiring anyone else at this point in time.
Nothing is official nor has been reported, but as a betting man, I would feel comfortable wagering that Daboll is coming to LA. Here is why.
1. The only other team besides the LA Chargers to interview Brian Daboll has hired someone else
Despite being one of the biggest names available and piloting one of the league’s best offenses, Daboll has not received as much attention on the coaching market as you would expect.
Thus far, only two teams have been reported to interview Daboll — the LA Chargers and the New York Jets. The Philadelphia Eagles reportedly have interest in Daboll, but at the time of writing this, no interview has been conducted.
The Jets hired their head coach already (more on that later) seemingly opening the door to have Daboll if they truly want him. Daboll certainly won’t wait another year for more jobs to open as well as it is smarter to strike while the iron is hot and get a job as good as the Chargers job.
Of course, there’s always the possibility of another team swooping into the coaching search and hiring Daboll, but the Chargers are the clear front runners.
