1. Brian Daboll

If you are a frequent reader here at Bolt Beat then you know that I have deemed Brian Daboll as Brian DaBolts as he is the number one hire on most fans’ wish list and the main reason for that is the impact that he could have on Justin Herbert.

Daboll has plenty of NFL coaching experience and has coached under both Bill Belichick and Nick Saban. His last three years as the offensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills have been the most impressive and is the reason why Daboll is a head coach candidate.

Most importantly, it has been awesome to see how Josh Allen has developed under Daboll’s offense. Allen was one of the worst quarterbacks in the league in 2018, took steps in 2019 but was still wildly inconsistent and has taken a massive step in 2020 and is playing like an MVP.

Daboll absolutely deserves some rub for Allen’s development and even when Allen was not as efficient, Daboll was doing a fantastic job. There is not a team in the league that knows what their quarterback can and can’t do and builds an offense around him as such.

The Baltimore Ravens do it with Lamar Jackson but that is different. Jackson was a much more polished quarterback than Allen. It was a harder uphill battle with Allen.

And now Allen is one of the best quarterbacks in the league (at least by this season’s numbers). If you would have told me that back in 2018 I would have called you insane.

Next. Comparing Anthony Lynn to former Chargers coaches

Justin Herbert is not a perfect quarterback but just imagine how much Daboll could get out of him if he was hired. It would be scary for other teams.
