The LA Chargers fell to the ninth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft after Week 15.

The LA Chargers were penciled in to have the fourth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft just two weeks ago and back-to-back wins in a four-day span more than doubled where the team would be picking in the draft.

The Chargers currently hold the ninth overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft and are likely going to move around even more. One game separates them from both the fourth overall pick and 15th overall pick.

As of right now, though, the Bolts are picking nine, which changes the entire outlook of the 2021 NFL Draft. Thus, using The Draft Network’s Mock Draft Simulator, I put together a new mock with the Chargers having the ninth pick.

With the ninth overall pick, the LA Chargers select Caleb Farley, CB, Virginia Tech

Instead of an offensive lineman in this mock draft I have the LA Chargers selecting a cornerback in Caleb Farley. The team probably needs to move on from Casey Hayward both for the cap space as well as just improving at the position, making an early-round cornerback a need for the team.

Just based on the rest of the draft board, who will be available later and the talent level of Farley, I think this would be a great selection by the Chargers. Instead of reaching for a tackle that might go in the late teens or early 20s, the Bolts get their replacement for Hayward and can start interjecting youth into the position group.
