9. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills

  • Average ranking: 9.71
  • Highest ranking: 4
  • Preseason ranking: 26

Josh Allen finally flipped the switch. Allen ranked 26th in our preseason ranking, getting no higher than a 21st ranking from the Bolt Beat staff. Now, he collectively ranks as the ninth-best quarterback in the league, even getting a top-four placement.

Allen is throwing far fewer interceptions, has raised his completion percentage by 10 percent and is still a lethal threat running the football. He has been really good this season. Let’s see if he can continue putting it together in the second half.

8. Justin Herbert, LA Chargers

  • Average ranking: 8.57
  • Highest ranking: 5
  • Preseason ranking: N/A

Justin Herbert — eighth-best quarterback in the league. Herbert has been phenomenal this season and if the Chargers were winning these close games then he would legitimately be in the MVP conversation.

Herbert is on a 16-game pace of 4,900 passing yards and 39 touchdowns with 11 interceptions and a completion percentage around 67%. He has been insane. If he continues at this level then he will be a top-five quarterback in the league heading into next season. Mark it down.

 7. Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans

  • Average ranking: 8.00
  • Highest ranking: 6
  • Preseason ranking: 15

Tannehill has been pretty solid this season. He is playing mistake-free football and is on pace to finish with just over 4,000 passing yards with just under 40 passing touchdowns. I think he is a little bit high on this list, but the staff has spoken.

6. Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

  • Average ranking: 7.86
  • Highest ranking: 6
  • Preseason ranking: 13

Tom Brady has been fairly solid this season as well. Brady is on a very similar pace as Tannehill, however, his three-interception game against the New Orleans Saints does hurt his turnover numbers.

Brady might belong more in the 8-10 range, especially seeing how Herbert and Allen are playing, but the GOAT gets the rub over the young quarterbacks… for now.

5. Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals

  • Average ranking: 5.86
  • Highest ranking: 4
  • Preseason ranking: 11

Kyler Murray has really taken a step up in his second year in the league. If the Arizona Cardinals go on a run to finish the season then I even think Murray could be a sleeper for the MVP award. Two staffers ranked Murray in the top-four. The lowest ranking he received was eighth.
