Predicting the LA Chargers’ final record after eight games
By Jason Reed
Week 12 vs. Buffalo Bills: Loss
Josh Allen is playing extremely well this season and while the Buffalo Bills did show some holes in their game earlier this year, they have since proven that they are a legitimate playoff team that could make a deep run.
Anthony Lynn used to be on the Bills’ coaching staff and that current staff is a better one than the Chargers have. It will be a fun offensive battle between Josh Allen and Justin Herbert that the Chargers will be on the losing side of.
Week 13 vs. New England Patriots: Win
I predicted the LA Chargers to lose this game earlier in the season but after watching how the New England Patriots looked against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football I cannot pick against the Chargers in good faith.
Yes, the Patriots are a far-better coached team than the Chargers but that won’t be enough. The Chargers will be at home in this game and (hopefully) the offensive line should be fully healthy by then. If Austin Ekeler is back by then it is a wrap.
Joey Bosa and the defensive line will pressure Cam Newton, who has been wildly inaccurate this season and has been really bad under pressure. My one concern is that the coaching for New England will help Cam pick apart this defense, as Tom Brady did in the 2018 Divisional Round.
However, the Chargers’ overall talent will be enough to guide them to a last-second win. Yes, I am actually predicting the Chargers to win a game down the stretch. It feels like wishful thinking.
Record after 12 games: 4-8
