With the 40th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the LA Chargers select Tyson Campbell, CB, Georgia
The other area that the LA Chargers desperately need help in is the secondary. Casey Hayward is getting old and has not been the Hayward that we know and love this season. Chris Harris has been injured and cannot be relied on as a long-term option. Michael Davis has been okay, Brandon Facyson has been bad.
If Sewell is not on the board by the time the Bolts pick in the first round then they will probably go corner. With Sewell available, the Chargers should extend the need for a cornerback to the second round, where they select (in this simulation) Georgia’s Tyson Campbell.
Campbell is a big, long and fast outside corner who has all of the intangibles to be successful at the NFL level. He certainly has the speed and size to be a great outside corner in the NFL and in the right scheme with some coaching he could eventually blossom into a legitimate CB1 in no time.
Campbell has underperformed a tad this season with Georgia but he is still ranked fairly high by several notable NFL outlets. PFF ranks him as the 27th-best prospect in the draft while The Draft Network ranks him 35th.
He is absolutely someone who could be available at 40 for the LA Chargers.
