LA Chargers: 3 players to worry the most about vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
By Jason Reed
3. Josh Allen
Josh Allen was one of the most exciting defensive prospects in the 2019 NFL Draft. He immediately proved his worth in Jacksonville, having a solid rookie season that earned him a Pro Bowl nod.
Allen started the season off well in 2020 but has missed the last two games because of a knee injury. However, he is expected to return to action against the Chargers and is trying to build up on his sack total of two.
Allen is primarily going to be working against Sam Tevi — who has been the surprising standout of the offensive line — and could have a big day as a result. While Tevi has been better than expected, I am still far from being confident in him leading up to any game.
The Jaguars are not a team that is going to suffocate Justin Herbert with the pass rush like the New Orleans Saints and Tampa Bay Buccaneers did but someone like Allen could make all difference.
The pass rush will live or die based on how Allen is performing and the absolute worst-case scenario for the Bolts is that Allen has a fantastic game and gets to Herbert multiple times.
While Herbert has been stone cold in the face of pressure this season, pressure does still cause mistakes and the last thing the Chargers need to do against a bad team like Jacksonville is let them back in the game.
Contain Josh Allen, keep him from having a big game as he returns from injury and Herbert should have enough time to cook.
