3. The New Orleans Saints flirt with 40 points scored

I know, I know — the last thing you want to read about on a LA Chargers site is about how the team is going to almost allow 40 points in front of a national audience. However, the fact of the matter is that this is not a good matchup for the Bolts in the slightest.

Sure, at its best the Chargers have one of the best defenses in the league and we saw the success it could have against a tough team like the Kansas City Chiefs. However, the Chargers have always played the Chiefs better than most teams and the defense is so banged up.

Melvin Ingram is out, Chris Harris is out, Casey Hayward is coming off of a terrible game and Joey Bosa is banged up and is noticeably not playing at 100%.

Yes, Drew Brees cannot uncork the long-ball anymore but that is what the Chargers’ defense is set up to defend — the Saints are not going to be using that, anyway.

Instead, there is going to be a lot of underneath stuff to Alvin Kamara and Michael Thomas and the Chargers are going to get burned as a result. We saw how bad the defense looked in the second half against Tampa Bay and if the same defense shows up then the Bolts will allow 40 points.

Yes, the Saints have struggled, but they still are scoring a lot of points and the LA Chargers’ defense is extremely vulnerable.
