LA Chargers: The good, bad and ugly from loss to Carolina Panthers
By Jason Reed
The ugly:
Turnovers, turnovers and more turnovers:
The LA Chargers lost this game because of turnovers, period. You would think that we would be used to this as Charger fans but this loss was painful. The Chargers looked like the more talented team throughout this game and just could not get out of their own way.
It started with a strip-sack on Justin Herbert on the second drive of the game that happened after Bryan Bulaga was burnt off the edge on the right side. It continued with a lost fumble from Joshua Kelley after a big run. It culminated with the interception that was a six-point swing.
It is a testament to the defense and to Justin Herbert that the Chargers were even in a position to win this game after committing three first-half turnovers that resulted in a combined 12 points.
The injuries:
Obviously this is not the LA Chargers fault and we cannot blame anyone for this. That would be absurd. Anyone that injury-shames players in the NFL is absurd.
However, there is no ignoring that the injuries were racking up for the Chargers and it hurt them. Nasir Adderley and Chris Harris got hurt on the defensive end and the offensive line was in shambles.
Mike Williams got hurt as well and did not return to the game. Both Hunter Henry and Justin Herbert got banged up, but remained in the game.
The team is already dealing with multiple injuries that are really hurting them. More injuries is the last thing we want to see.
