LA Chargers: Betting lines guide and prediction vs. Kansas City Chiefs
By Jason Reed
The LA Chargers are underdogs for the first time in 2020 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
It only took two games for the LA Chargers to be underdogs for the first time in the 2020 season, but we all expected it when the schedule was announced earlier in the year.
The Chargers are hosting the defending Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs in the Bolts’ first-ever game at SoFi Stadium. Both teams are coming off of a win — the Chiefs a comfortable one against the Houston Texans and the Chargers a nail-biting one against the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Chiefs have dominated the Chargers in recent years. The Chargers had that fantastic win against the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium in 2018 that nearly led to the Chargers winning the AFC West. Aside from that, it has been all Chiefs.
The Chargers are 1-11 against the Chiefs over the last six years. That is reflected in the betting lines.
According to The Action Network, the LA Chargers head into this Week 2 showdown as 8.5-point underdogs. The total for the game has also been set at 47.5, originally opening at 50 and moving all the way down to 47.5 with public action on the under.
LA Chargers betting guide for Week 2:
The picks: Chiefs -8.5, under 47.5 points (2020 record: 1-0-1)
If I were to put money on the LA Chargers game in Week 2 then I would have to put it against the Chargers, which I do not love doing. While 8.5 points is a lot, I still do not think we should fully buy in on this new-look offense being able to keep up with the Chiefs’ offense.
The Chargers’ defense will do all it can to limit the Chiefs and will do so in some capacity, as they have in recent years. However, the Chiefs will get the ball so frequently, pull away early and coast to an easy win.
Not only do I have the Chiefs winning this game by nine or more points but I also think it will be relatively scoring in the sense that it will not get close to 50 points.
I have the Chiefs scoring three touchdowns and kicking two field goals in this game. I do think the Chargers will find the endzone twice, but that will be the extent of their luck, with my final score prediction being 27-14.
Of course, we still have some wiggle room as far as the under is concerned. The Chargers could hit another field goal to make it 27-17 and the under would hit and the Chiefs would cover. The Chiefs could even add another field goal on top of that to make it 30-17 and the under would still hit.

Those are my picks for the week. I am not overly confident in them, and I really like the Chiefs in a six-point tease. The best thing to do is make money off of an LA Chargers loss, it helps the pain.
