Wide receiver option one: Josh Gordon

Josh Gordon character-wise may not be a seamless fit in the LA Chargers locker room. However, he has incredible potential and could very well slide into the second wide receiver spot for as much time as Mike Williams needs to be sidelined.

Many people forget what a talent Gordon was before repeated suspensions and conduct issues kept him out of football for prolonged periods of time. If he could return to even 75 percent of the player he was, the Chargers could immediately have one of the top wide receiver rooms in the entire NFL.

Upon Mike Williams’ return, Josh Gordon could still very well slide right into the WR3 spot that the team is looking to fill right now.

Gordon is six feet three inches tall, weighs 225 pounds, and runs what has been reported to be a 4.35 40 yard dash. Comparing him to Mike Williams at six feet four inches tall, 220 pounds and a 4.49 40 yard dash time, Gordon can be just as strong on 50-50 balls but also possesses enough downfield speed to blow right past the defense.

Josh Gordon is still young enough to have multiple good (even great) seasons of football to be played. If he can keep himself from getting suspended yet again, this can be an absolutely amazing addition to the LA Chargers and could very well help extremely strong-armed rookie quarterback Justin Herbert needing a deep ball target to throw the ball to.

At the very least, the Chargers should take a flier on Josh Gordon, especially with Mike Williams being out for the coming weeks.
